The Hunslet Rugby Foundation are delighted to announce a major sponsorship deal with Northern Powergrid, the local electricity distributor.
The sponsorship deal will go towards funding an apprentice development officer position for 12 months. This role will see an apprentice complete an Intermediate Apprenticeship Activity Leadership course, leading to a level 2 NVQ. The apprentice will deliver multi-skills activities in South Leeds primary schools under the supervision of our community development office, Darrell Robinson. A key part of these sessions will be delivering Northern Powergrid’s safety message on the dangers of electricity and helping children recognise these dangers.
Hunslet Rugby Foundation Manager Martin Flynn commented: “This is a fantastic initiative and helps the Foundations in a number of ways. It provides an exciting apprenticeship for a young person, whilst at the same time educating children on the dangers of electricity. It also showcases what the Foundation has to offer other potential sponsors. We are extremely grateful to Northern Powergrid for their support”.
Geoff Earl, Northern Powergrid’s Safety Director was equally enthusiastic about the link up. “The Hunslet Foundation are at the heart of the community and this is an excellent way of ensuring we raise children’s awareness of the hazards associated with play and increase their knowledge of what to do if an accident occurs. We are also proud to be supporting a young person on their path to a promising career”.
