14th June

Triathlon event

As most of you will know from our recent post regarding the partnership between the Hunslet Foundation, Active Leeds and Positive Futures we have put together a Triathlon event on Friday 14th June involving 10 of the local schools our development officer Michael Nuttall has been working in. This event will welcome 120 student’s year group 5 & year 6 from the local schools to compete in a variety of running and cycling games in the stadium. These students will all be invited to the Hunslet RLFC vs Doncaster game which will be played on that evening. The schools on the day who will be taking part in the event will be Hunslet Carr Primary, Hunslet St Mary’s, Clapgate Primary, Westwood Primary, Gildersome Primary, Rothwell Primary, Beeston St Anthony’s, St Francis of Assisi, Middleton St Mary’s and Blackgates Primary. This is a fantastic opportunity for all these schools to compete against one another and show all their hard work they have shown in the sessions with Michael over the year in this event. We very much look forward to welcoming these schools to the event on the 14th June.

Our development officer Michael Nuttall commented on the event ” the event we have put together is a real testament to the character and hard work that these students have put in over the programmes which my self and Rich Sadler have delivered in their schools over the year. The students picked for the event will be based on the quality of their behaviour and the performances over their programmes. Triathlon is a difficult sport involving several endurance training methods and the students have not had it easy in the sessions we have delivered. We have tried to make the sessions as fun as possible but at the same time get the best out of the students and test their maximum efforts. Myself and Rich Sadler from Active Leeds have worked within the schools so far with yet all the schools still to receive a programme with us prior to the event. We are both looking forward to welcoming these students to the event and seeing which school comes top”
